Police College started on April 1 implementing an enhanced structure to strengthen its functional governance and training capability.

One of the key changes is establishment of three schools.  Whilst the School of Foundation Training (formerly Foundation Training Centre) prepares officers for the basics, the School of Professional Development (formerly Professional Development Learning Centre) is primarily responsible for executive development and command training.  The School of Specialised Learning has replaced the Specialised Services Training Centre to look after specialised training such as detective training, police driving and traffic training, and learning services.

In addition, the Examinations and Assessment Division in the School of Specialised Learning has been upgraded from division to centre status to duly reflect its pivotal role in assurance of training quality for recruits, and detective and other professional training programmes.

Formalisation of secondment of two professional Senior Training Officers from the Civil Service Training and Development Institute to the Learning Services Division in the School of Specialised Learning will also benefit police training in terms of independent and professional expertise from trainers outside the Force.

The above enhancements represent Police College's determination to strive for continuous training excellence by strengthening its functional structure, better utilising training resources and adopting a rationalised and international nomenclature convention befitting a forward looking police training establishment.
