A party of 26 Probationary Inspectors (PI), including a Woman PI, three teaching staff members from Police College and two serving officers participated in a St. Baldrick's Charity event last month to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF). They all had obtained sponsorship for getting shaved bald in symbolic support for children who have lost their hair as a result of chemotherapy for cancer.

For the first time ever, a woman police officer under training, PI Tristan Cheung, joined in with Superintendents Simon Southgate and Paul Bailey as well as Chief Inspectors Tobi Lothian and Steve Tang in the hair-shaving event, all of whom had previously taken part in the same event. Another first-time supporter is Senior Inspector Nelson Ng. The collective effort of all the officers raised $277,000 at last count for the CCF.

Presenting a cheque to CCF Governor, Mr Edward Yu, Director of Police College Paul Lau said, "This is a wonderful effort by staff and trainees to raise such a large amount for such a deserving cause.  This is the first time the College has directly taken part in the event and I would like to see it become an annual effort of the College."
