When I was in secondary school, I tried to have a leisure run on the track for the sake of my health. As I needed to concentrate on my studies, I quitted running afterwards.
I joined the Force after graduating from university. When I entered the Foundation Training School, my physical fitness was just mediocre because I had no formal training. Luckily, I had good companions, who always reminded me: "Everything is difficult at the beginning". I did not give up and before my passing-out parade, I managed to complete the 2.4km run in eight and a half minutes.
After my Recruit Police Constable training, I joined the Police Athletics Club (PAC). At the beginning, I participated in training just for leisure and keeping fit. As I was not good at running, I had no confidence in representing the Force. Fortunately, there was no lack of mentors in the PAC who motivated and reminded me: "Nothing is difficult for the man who dares to try". Therefore, I joined the more intense training offered by the PAC and later attained a breakthrough performance. These days, I can run faster and handle different kinds of distance events.
My motto now is: "Strive for what lies ahead and run towards the goal". Running is not an ordinary sport. It has affected my life and taught me what is discipline and how to seek progress. Most importantly, it has taught me how to rise to challenges and adversity. I hope I would attain my goals and break records to bring glory to the Force.
