Yuen Long District (YLDIST) has rerun a six-week Nepali course to help officers get a better understanding of the Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC).

The course covered elementary Nepali, the cultures and customs of the Nepalese as well as their everyday life in Hong Kong. Through the course, officers would be able to improve communication with the NEC and ability to handle cases involving them.

During a Certificate Presentation Ceremony following conclusion of the course, YLDIST Commander Fok Lok-sang encouraged officers to make good use of the language skills they had acquired and continue to get better equipped for their jobs.

The officers, among whom were inspectors and an auxiliary police officer, completed the course on August 17. They found the course not only afford a better understanding of the Nepalese, but also bolstered their confidence of serving the NEC.
