Arranged by Police College, a 10-member delegation headed by Chief Inspector Shiu Wan-yee, comprising Senior Inspector (SIP) Ng Ka-wing, SIP Chan Kit-fung, two Station Sergeants and five Police Constables, visited Hampshire Constabulary in UK between October 5 and 9.

The delegation attended briefings given by officers from various units on many policing matters, including Juvenile Crime Prevention and Support, Engaging Ethnic Minorities, Handling of Mentally Disordered Person, Handling of Persons with Special Needs and Football Policing. The delegation also met the Chief Constable, Mr Andy Marsh, who shared his valuable experiences with the delegation members.

Besides the Control and Command Centre and the Central Detention Centre of the Hampshire Constabulary, the delegation also toured the Special Operations Room (SOR) of the Metropolitan Police. The SOR serves as a command centre for public events, disasters and major incidents and international events such as the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Another highlight of the visit was a brief attachment to the local police as an observer with each delegation member paired up with officers conducting patrol and handling incidents of different natures.

Throughout the five-day visit, the delegation members not only availed themselves of the opportunity to exchange experiences and views with their UK counterparts, but also projected the positive image of the Force.
