In an Operations Wing Presentation Ceremony held on December 29, two pairs of patrol partners - Police Constable (PC) Lo Kai-chung and police dog "Major" and PC Mui King-wai and his "Bo" - were awarded Commanding Officer's Commendation (COC).

Attending the ceremony was the last working day for "Major" as it "retired" that day. After the ceremony PC Lo handed the leash to Mr and Mrs Chang, who looked after "Major" for the Police Dog Unit when it was a puppy. The couple will look after "Major" in his "retirement".

Recalling his seven years with "Major", PC Lo said, "There were many happy moments for us but there was also frustration. I have mixed feelings because we will leave each other. I thank and salute Major for his contribution to the Force." The couple also said that they were proud of "Major" for his contribution to law and order.

PC Mui felt honoured to have partnered with "Bo". "Bo was once timid, but has transformed into an extremely brave late-night-violence buster. On a ceremony stage, he is a nice police ambassador, but the next moment he can use his superior sense to sniff out drugs and tackle culprits," he noted.

PC Mui added, "Whenever I came across problems or challenge at work in the past, Bo was always by my side. I appreciate his dedication to police work. I also thank him for giving me an extraordinary life these few years."
