Police volunteers pitched in at two major sports events, UCI Track Cycling World Cup - Hong Kong and Hong Kong Marathon, in January, providing voluntary services for both the organisers and the participants.

The final round of the 2015/16 UCI Track Cycling World Cup took place in the Hong Kong Velodrome for the first time on January 16 and 17. The event was the highest-ranked international track cycling competition ever staged in Hong Kong. To ensure smooth running of the event, 55 police volunteers took care of venue security and other services. The Hong Kong Marathon 2016 took place on January 17. Alongside police officers, the police volunteers, comprising both regular and auxiliary officers, provided different types of voluntary services at the scene.

Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chau Kwok-leung attended both events to pat the police volunteers on the back and receive appreciation from the organisers on behalf of the volunteers.
