Supporting the Strategic Direction 4 on "Supporting Frontline Units", Operations Kowloon West (OPS KW) offered two-day "Training in Advanced Mediation and Skills to Handle Conflicts" to frontline officers on Jan 8 and 15.

Mr Albert So, a practising solicitor and Chairman of the Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Centre, provided the training. A total of 30 officers from frontline units in KW Region participated in the training, obtaining knowledge in introspection, active listening, cognizance of one's body language, deadlock and impasse handling and professional skills in handling conflicts. They found the training meeting a practical need of police work.

Encouraged by the officers' response to the training, OPS KW is expected to offer more similar training to frontline units with a view to averting crimes arising from inter-personal conflicts and public complaints.
