The "Gardening Team" of Yuen Long District (YLDIST) seeks to promote the message of conservation with leisurely gardening activities for both officers and civilian staff. Taking part in organic farming after office hours, the team members strengthen communication and become more aware of the significance of waste recycling as they worked with their canteen to turn food leftovers into fertilizers, fulfilling their social responsibility for environmental protection.

To celebrate the success of this green project, a reception was held early last month when District Commander Fok Lok-sang was taken on a guided tour of the team members' garden. Mr Fok was pleased with their efforts and encouraged them to keep up their good job. He likened cultivation of a caring culture to planting, which takes a long time and a lot of efforts to blossom.
