To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Police College and promote application of learning technologies in training, the Learning Technologies Division of the College held a Departmental Learning Technology Seminar cum Exhibition from January 19 to 21 at Police Headquarters.

Among the 500 participants, about 180 of them came from government sectors, including Security Bureau, Fire Services Department, Customs and Excise Department, Correctional Services Department, Government Flying Service, Civil Service Training and Development Institute, Auxiliary Medical Service and Civil Aid Service.

The main theme of the three-day event was "Empowering Training with Visualisation Technologies", through which the participants experienced the power of visualisation in police training, particularly with interactive tools. Throughout the event, the participants viewed not only the immersive 3D demonstration arranged by the School of Creative Media (SCM) of City University of Hong Kong, but also other high quality software applications developed by the division known as "Scenario-based Interactive Multi-player Simulation", "Digital Presentation System" and "Virtual Interactive Exploration Walkway".

Delivering a keynote speech at the seminar, the Chair Professor of the SCM, Dr Jeffrey Shaw, introduced his research on the topic of "Immersive Visualisation for Art, Science and Industry". Participants from government sectors also shared their latest technological skills in training. Police College received from them favourable feedback and requests for more co-operation in training.
