In a bid to make the public and social workers more aware of the problem of elder abuse, the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence (FCSV) Policy Unit took part in the "Elder Abuse Awareness Seminar" hosted by the Salvation Army on March 20.

FCSV Policy Unit officers explained the relevant laws, police procedures of handling elder abuse cases and the ways to identify elder abuse to volunteers who will pay visits to the elderly, giving the volunteers a better understanding of the importance of elder protection and enhancing their awareness of and sensitivity to elder abuse.

The audience also shared their experiences of providing support services for the elderly, promoting the communication between the police and the social service sector.
