Kowloon East (KE) Region staged an Open Day at the Kowloon East Operational Base on March 19, attracting more than 700 community leaders, Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) leaders, citizens, school principals, government department representatives, teachers, students, parents and the elderly. The event underlined KE's efforts to reinforce co-operation with all sectors of the community and give the public a better picture of its missions, jobs and services.

Declaring the event open, KE Regional Commander Duncan McCosh pointed out that KE Region had rolled out a series of programmes focusing on youth development and engaging the NEC, with some projects reminding the elderly to stay alert to crime. Apart from combating crime, KE Region would also step up crime prevention to implement the objectives of the Strategic Directions set by the Commissioner.

Emergency Unit KE, Traffic KE, Railway District and Ngau Tau Kok Division set up a variety of booths at the venue to display arms, equipment, motorcycles and police vehicles, and introduce the control room of Railway District and duty briefings in Ngau Tau Kok Division. The Police Band and Police Dog Unit also livened up the atmosphere with performances.
