The Government announced on April 15 that the Chief Executive had appointed Mr Yang Joe-tsi Commandant of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) with immediate effect to succeed the retiring Commandant, Mr Yiu Yeung-lung.


Mr Yang, aged 58, is the Marketing Director of a property development firm. He joined the HKAPF as a Constable (Auxiliary) in April 1989 and was promoted to Superintendent (Auxiliary) in October 2004, Senior Superintendent (Auxiliary) in December 2008 and Chief Superintendent (Auxiliary) in August 2010. On November 1, 2013, the Chief Executive appointed Mr Yang Deputy Commandant.


Mr Yang has a wide range of operational and management experience. He was awarded the Long Service Medal for Auxiliary Police in 2004 and the First Clasp in 2014.
