With an aim to disseminate anti-drug and fight crime messages to students, officers of the Police Community Relations Office, Tai Po District (TPDIST), took more than 30 secondary school students of Tai Po and North District to visit the Correctional Services Department's (CSD) Lai Chi Rehabilitation Centre on Lantau Island and Lo Wu Correctional Institution on May 9 and 19 respectively.

This visit, entitled "Experiencing Correctional Institutions", was the fourth of a series of activities of the Drug Fighting Elite Scheme. It enabled students to understand the consequences and the price of committing a crime. Apart from touring the prison facilities, such as wards and canteens, the students were briefed on prisoners' daily lives by CSD officers and had a sharing session with the inmates.

The participants said that they learned from the visit that drug abuse would not only ruin one's health, but also adversely affect one's relationships with his family and friends. The visit followed three other activities held earlier on "Simulated Arresting Operation", "Dialogue with Lawyers" and "Mock Court Trial".
