With the arrangement made by the Police College, Chief Inspectors (CIPs) Chan Kwok-fai and Leung Chi-hang attended a three-week "Graduate Certificate of Applied Management Programme" at the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) in Sydney in August.

Prior to departure, they had taken a three-month distance-learning course. The core programme in Sydney covered a wide range of topics, such as management strategies, environmental review, human resources policies and integrity management. It provided a good opportunity for 30 officers from Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong to exchange views and share policing practices.

After the AIPM programme, the CIPs spent one week on attachment to Western Australia Police in Perth where they met their counterparts from the Multicultural Unit, State Intelligence Group, Recruit and Continuous Training Unit as well as Media and Corporate Communications Unit. They were deeply impressed by the professionalism of the Western Australia Police.
