The Director of the Hong Kong Police College (HKPC), Lau Chi-wai, led senior management of HKPC to visit the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) on October 6 to gain a better understanding of the expertise of ASTRI and explore opportunities for technological collaboration between the Force and the institute.

ASTRI staff introduced the institute's research and development projects to HKPC delegates, followed by a presentation on the use of robotic technologies in search and rescue activities and a series of demonstrations covering Blockchain, real-time 2D/3D conversion technology and facial recognition. ASTRI staff also explained to the delegates the facilities of the Cyber Range Laboratory, which is an important collaborative project with the Force.

Both parties said the visit was conducive to the continued development of innovative technology to enhance police training and operational effectiveness of the Force.
