From July to September, a total of 158 Probationary Inspectors (PIs) and Recruit Police Constables (RPCs) supported programmes of the Operation Breakthrough by spending their Saturdays to offer sports training for youths-in-need. The Operation Breakthrough was identified as a charity partner by the School of Foundation Training (SFT) in June for PIs and RPCs to engage vulnerable youths through sporting activities.

The programmes provided opportunities for the PIs and RPCs to exercise positive influence on youths at risk and urge them to stay away from crime. Some of these youngsters will be given a chance to watch a passing-out parade at the Police College, at which they can witness their role models attending the parade after completing the foundation training at SFT. At the same time, the PIs and RPCs could interact with police volunteers in the programmes to learn more about the police career.
