Eastern District (EDIST) Deputy Commander Sit Ka-ho chaired a meeting with Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) community leaders on November 17 to better understand their concerns so as to provide appropriate assistance to them.


Attending the meeting included the Imams from Quarry Bay and Chai Wan Mosque, EDIST Police Community Relations Officer Lam Kin-tat, Assistant Divisional Commander (Administration) of Chai Wan Division Lau Tak-yi, principals of local kindergartens and secondary schools as well as representatives from the Equal Opportunities Commission, other related non-profit-making organisations and government departments. The Crime Prevention Bureau was also invited to pass on crime prevention tips to the attendees.


Meanwhile, EDIST ran another round of Chinese language course for over 20 Pakistani and Nepalese youngsters from October 8 in a bid to increase their competitiveness and to facilitate their integration into the community. The junior NEC were taught Applied Chinese while the senior NEC received small group teaching.
