Six instructors of the Police College were presented the Award for Teaching Excellence at a presentation ceremony held by the College for the first time at the Police Headquarters on January 9.

Director of the Police College Lau Chi-wai congratulated the awardees for their outstanding teaching achievements, and encouraged all instructors to continue dedicating their efforts in teaching. The Award, which was introduced to the College's Detective Training Centre and Police Driving and Traffic Training Centre (PD&TTC) on a trial basis in 2016, was in line with the philosophy of the College's Quality Assurance Mechanism - "keep improving beyond the areas of excellence".

The assessment process of the Award took two stages. The first stage was an all-rounded assessment, which covered self-assesment, peer vote, supervisor's evaluation and students' observation. The two instructors with the highest marks were nominated for the second stage of the assessment – an interview with the adjudication panel. The panel was chaired by the Head of the School of Specialised Learning with members including the Superintendents of the respective training centres and the Senior Training Officer of the College.

After assessment, Chief Inspector Chow Chun-choi and Senior Inspector Jacqueline Dhillon captured the Best Instructor Award of Detective Training Centre while the Best Instructor Award of Police Driving and Traffic Training Centre went to Sergeant Tong Sen-sze, and Senior Police Constables Lai Siu-hung, Lee Chi-fai and Lee Koon-yin. The results would be recorded in the reports of Officers' Personnel Information Communal System II.
