The Police College invited guest speakers of the Youth-In-Need Engagement Course to the Spring Reception at the Aberdeen Campus on February 15 to express gratitude for these supporters of the course.

Among the attendees for the Spring Reception were representatives from the Methodist Centre, Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and Youth Outreach; Principal of Christian Zheng Sheng College Dr Chan Siu-cheuk; Dr Fung Lai-chu of the City University of Hong Kong; and Dr Poon Kei-yan of the Education University of Hong Kong.

Over 700 officers from various formations have participated in the course, which was launched in 2015. Module I of the course provides basic training for frontline Junior Police Officers (JPOs) in the form of seminars to enhance their understanding of youngsters and youth services. For Module II, arrangements are made for JPOs serving in the School Liaison Office, Juvenile Protection Section, Regional Missing Persons Unit and District Anti-triad Squad as well as other prospective trainees engaging youths-in-need to visit youth facilities and organisations.

The upcoming course is scheduled to be held in March.
