Mongkok District (MKDIST), with the assistance rendered by Yau Tsim Mong District Councillor Mr Chow Chun-fai, established "Sai Yeung Choi Street South Charter" with local residents and shop operators on December 28 with an aim to maintaining law and order in the pedestrian precinct. The Charter was well received as 612 households, 200 tenants of commercial buildings and 31 shop operators had so far signed the Charter.

Under the Charter, MKDIST officers and representatives of the signatories would exchange the latest crime information and discuss matters of common concern through WhatsApp, police hotline, daily contact and regular meetings. In this connection, MKDIST Deputy District Commander Lee Chung-wah met the representatives on January 16 to talk about the crime trend and street management.

On January 23, Mr Lee, together with some signatories, distributed publicity items to other shop operators in Sai Yeung Choi Street South to encourage more people to sign the Charter.
