Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chau Kwok-leung, Director of Finance, Administration and Planning Joyce Tam and Police Civil Secretary Leung Ho-yin met representatives of seven civilian staff associations at a lunch gathering on March 1 to exchange views on the development of the civilian grades and other subjects of concern to their grade members.

Mr Chau told the representatives that the overall crime rate in Hong Kong for 2016 dropped to its lowest level since 1970s whilst the quality of the Force's frontline services such as the handling of 999 emergency calls and processing of licence applications were maintained at a very high level. Such achievements were attributable to the hard work and dedication of all members of the Force, including civilian staff. Notwithstanding the increasing public expectations and the ever-changing modus operandi of crimes, he said the Force would endeavour to face up to the challenges ahead with the solid support of all civilian staff.

Mr Chau thanked the civilian staff associations for playing a vital role in promoting communication between the management and staff members. He believed that both disciplined and civilian staff shared the same vision to serve the community, and they would work hand in hand to fulfil the Force's mission to maintain law and order.
