Senior executives of the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC) presented pennants to the then Sau Mau Ping District (SMPDIST) Commander Yuen Yuk-kin, Railway District (RAILDIST) Commander Lau Cheng-fung and other officers of SMPDIST and RAILDIST on January 12 in appreciation of their prompt action in detecting a theft case.

From August 15 to September 13, a quantity of coins totalling $86,000 was stolen from ticket vending machines at various MTR stations in 800-odd incidents. After MTR staff reported the case to the Police, crime officers of SMPDIST mounted a joint operation with RAILDIST and MTRC, and apprehended a man within 24 hours. The man was charged with theft accordingly.
