Kowloon East (KE) Region conducted a practical training exercise under Operation STARHORSE to consolidate the competencies of members of six Evidence Gathering Teams (EGTs) and foster co-operation between Uniform Branch (UB) personnel and crime officers in public order policing on April 8 at the Tactical Training Complex of the Police College.

Under the co-ordination of the Police Tactical Unit of KE Region, the exercise featured different scenarios of public events that fit in with the characteristics of the Region. KE Regional Commander Duncan McCosh highlighted some key points in gathering evidence in public events and encouraged the EGTs to grasp the training opportunity to empower their ability and confidence in frontline work.

The EGTs, comprising UB and crime officers from Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin and Sau Mau Ping Districts, were established in February to take responsibility of collecting evidence during public events.

To equip the EGTs with the necessary professional knowledge in handling public events, KE Region had arranged a training course in the three districts in February and March. The training covered evidence-gathering techniques in public events, simulated exercises and experience sharing by the Regional Public Order Event Investigation Team of Kowloon West.
