To cater for non-Chinese speaking students and their parents in Yau Tsim District (YTDIST), the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) organised an event "Dream with my Child" fun fair cum parent talk in conjunction with the Committee on Home-School Co-operation of the Education Bureau for the first time at Jordan Road Government Primary School on April 12.

The talk aimed to help the parents to understand their children's personal interest, ability and career aspirations so as to better support their children in their studies. Three non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) officers, namely Police Constables (PCs) Zaffar Ifzal, Niraj Gurung and Zareena Tariq Razi, shared with hundreds of parents and students their learning experience and how they faced the cultural difference, overcame difficulties in learning Chinese and developed their career as police officers.

YTDIST and Yuen Long District introduced their Projects Gemstone and Himalaya respectively for the NEC. The parents and students found the talk informative, and some of the students enrolled the projects on the spot.

Both the PPRB and the Education Bureau believed that it was a good step for the NEC to start learning Chinese at primary school level, and appealed to the participants to join hands to build a better living environment for all.
