Two representatives from the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) won the INTERPOL's Digital Security Challenge held by the INTERPOL's Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore from March 14 to 17.

Cyber crime investigators and digital forensics experts from 20 countries and regions, including Senior Inspector Fung Wing-on and Station Sergeant Cheung Chun-ki from CSTCB of the Hong Kong Police Force, took part in the event. All the participants were divided into five teams to tackle a simulated scenario about a ransomware attack at a public hospital's server. The teams applied their cyber investigation skills and digital forensics knowledge to locate the hacker.

Mr Fung's team was the first group to find the relevant digital evidence, trace the suspect and recover the encrypted content. Mr Cheung's team took the third place. In brief, the event had provided a platform for law enforcement officers from various jurisdictions to further develop their skills in cyber crime investigation.
