The Hong Kong (HK) Disciplined Services rugby team and a rugby team from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) held a friendly match for the TK Lai Rugby Cup (Lai Tung-Kwok Rugby Cup) at the Hong Kong Football Club on April 22 to strengthen partnership and promote a healthy lifestyle. Commissioner Lo Wai-chung cheered both teams and presented a trophy to the winning team.

The TK Lai Rugby Cup was introduced in 2012 when the Disciplined Services team, including players from the Force, Fire Services Department, Customs and Excise Department, Immigration Department and Correctional Services Department, contested with a team from the PLA.

This year, the 80-minute rugby game was one of the hardest fixtures the Disciplined Services team faced, as many of the PLA players were also members of the Chinese National Rugby squad. The match was a tough game with many breathtaking moments, which saw the Disciplined Services team doing their utmost to defend against an onslaught from the PLA. Despite vigorous efforts of the Disciplined Services team, who scored in the last minute, the more physically imposing PLA team won and received the TK Lai Cup.
