A record number of over 400 mentors and mentees of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) attended the PMP Closing Ceremony 2016/17 cum Inauguration Ceremony 2017/18 at the Police Headquarters on April 25, with Director of Personnel and Training Chiu Wai-yin, other senior officers and guests from 11 participating tertiary institutions as the officiating guests.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Chiu attributed the success of the PMP to the continuous support of the tertiary institutions and mentors. She had not only encouraged the mentees to take part in the activities of the PMP to broaden their horizons, enhance their competitiveness and increase their understanding of police work, but also inspired the mentees to join the Force after graduation to serve the community.

The PMP has been held annually since 2004. This year, the Force has selected 390 undergraduates as mentees, who would be coached by 134 police mentors and assistant mentors.

The participants of the ceremony looked back at the major events held in 2016/17 while the new mentees were delighted to learn about the activity plan for the coming year and they looked forward in particular to the Job Attachment Programme to be held between June and August.
