The Regional Public Order Event Investigation Team of Hong Kong Island (HKI) has devised various training programmes for members of the Evidence Gathering Teams (EGTs). The EGT Advanced Training Course was held on June 21 to provide an opportunity for team members to benefit from the sharing of experience and the latest court rulings.

Meanwhile, the EGT Basic Training Course took place on June 15, during which Regional Commander of HKI Yu Tat-chung presented appointment letters to 107 new members.

HKI set up 10 EGTs in March 2015 to gather evidence in public events as a means to deter the illegal acts of radical protestors. Ten relieving EGTs were established last October in light of an increasing number of public events. In 2016, the EGTs were deployed for a total of 62 times and their contribution to the policing of public events was well recognised.
