A total of 46 persons were appointed as new ambassadors of Operation HILLCASTLE at Tseung Kwan O Police Station on May 5 to assist the Force in disseminating crime alerts to their neighbourhood and boosting residents' home security awareness.

Presenting appointment letters to the new ambassadors were Kowloon East Regional Commander Duncan McCosh, Commander of Kwun Tong District (KTDIST) Barry Smith, Commander (designate) of Tseung Kwan O District Siu Kit-hung, Sai Kung District Officer Ms Siu Mo-lin, Chairman of Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committee Mr Chan Kuen-kwan and Chairman of Hang Hau Rural Committee Mr Sing Hon-keung. The new ambassadors were mainly village representatives and delegates of owners' corporations and property management companies. Appreciation letters were also given to nine current ambassadors for their contribution to the crime prevention project in 2016.

Operation HILLCASTLE was initiated by the Task Force Sub-Unit of Tseung Kwan O Division (TKODIV) and the Police Community Relations Office of KTDIST in July 2014 with an aim to tackling burglary in the rural area. With the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, the number of burglary cases in the area has dropped significantly.
