To mark the fourth anniversary of Project Himalaya, the Police Community Relations Office of Yuen Long District (YLDIST) held a celebration on July 7 at Yuen Long Police Station to express gratitude to the local and Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) representatives for their support over the years. Members of the local Pakistani and Nepalese organisations, together with secondary school principals, were invited to attend the event.

YLDIST Commander Au Chin-chau took the occasion to appoint a group of outstanding NEC members of the project as YLDIST Fight Crime Ambassadors. He encouraged them to participate in more community activities to promote racial integration and crime prevention. Afterwards, one of the Nepalese police officers who was a member of the project, Kusal Gurung, shared his experience with the NEC.

Since 2013, Project Himalaya has nurtured three NEC police officers and two NEC police community liaison assistants. The project helps to broaden the horizons of NEC youngsters, cultivate their positive values of life and encourage them to contribute to the community.
