The Government announced that the Chief Executive had appointed Mr Cheng Man-sum as the Deputy Commandant of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) with effect from July 13.


Mr Cheng, aged 55, is a partner of a local law firm. He joined the HKAPF as a Police Constable (Auxiliary) in August 1984 and was promoted to Superintendent (Auxiliary) in January 2007, Senior Superintendent (Auxiliary) in October 2011 and Chief Superintendent (Auxiliary) in September 2015.


Mr Cheng has a wide range of operational and management experience. He was awarded the Long Service Medal for Auxiliary Police in 1999 and the First Clasp in 2009.
