In a bid to prevent and combat beach theft, Western District (WDIST) rolled out the Southern District Anti-Beach Crime Publicity Campaign at Repulse Bay Beach on July 15.


Officiating at the kick-off ceremony included Acting Commander of WDIST Sin Chi-sing, Chairman of the Southern District Council Mr Chu Ching-hong, Vice Chairman of the Southern District Council Mr Chan Fu-ming, Chairman of the Southern District Fight Crime Committee Dr Chan Yuk-kit, Chairman of WDIST Senior Police Call (SPC) Honorary Presidents Council Mr Chan Wai-chuen, Chairman of WDIST Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents Council Dr Malcolm Lam and Chairman of the Southern District East Area Committee Mr Mak Chi-yan.


Following the ceremony, the officiating guests, together with SPC and JPC members and Non-ethnic Chinese residents, distributed anti-theft leaflets and souvenirs to beach-goers, reminding them to keep a watchful eye on their belongings and beware of "beach rats" while two enjoying their leisure time on the beach.
