Senior management of Guangdong, Hong Kong (HK) and Macao police held the 23rd Tripartite Heads of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Meeting in Hong Kong on August 3 with a view to outlining strategies as well as strengthening co-operation and intelligence exchange in the fight against cross-boundary crime.

Led by Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing, representatives of the Hong Kong Police Force met with the delegations respectively headed by Deputy Director-General of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department Mr Lin Weixiong and Commissioner-General of the Macao Unitary Police Service Mr Ma Io-kun.

The Force delegation comprised Acting Director of Crime and Security Chung Siu-yeung and five bureau heads of the Crime Wing. The Mainland delegates came from the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, Shenzhen and Zhuhai Municipal Public Security Bureaux, while the Macao members were from the Unitary Police Service, Judiciary Police and Public Security Police. Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), and the respective Police Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao.

The delegates of the three jurisdictions reviewed the achievement of collaboration of the tripartite police authorities last year and mapped out the way forward. Apart from discussing the challenges encountered in the fight against cross-boundary crime, they also exchanged views on the crime trend, joint operations, intelligence exchange, training and visits.

Mr Lau expressed gratitude to the MPS, the Police Liaison Departments of LOCPG, the Guangdong public security authorities and Macao police authorities for their tremendous support in criminal investigation last year. He hoped that the tripartite CIDs would continue to strengthen intelligence exchange in combating cross-boundary crime.
