Kowloon West (KW) and the Support Wing jointly ran a seminar on the prevention of cruelty to animals on July 26 at KW Regional Headquarters with a view to enhancing frontline officers' professional ability to handle cruelty to animal cases. Over 70 frontline supervisory officers participated in the seminar.

The Support Wing told the attendees the updated number of these cases and led them to revisit the Animal Watch Scheme. Then, staff of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) gave advice on the initial handling of injured or dead animals at scene and explained how they could support the Force in the investigation. Afterwards, speakers from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department talked about the assistance they could offer to the Force and shared their experience in handling cruelty to animal cases.

All the speakers gave tips on handling this type of cruelty cases, which would be useful to officers in performing frontline duties.
