Director of the Police College Lau Chi-wai, Chief Superintendent of the Traffic Branch Headquarters Martin Cadman and Superintendent of the Detective Training Centre Yau Nai-keung were invited by the Hospital Authority (HA) to deliver a talk at the HA Major Incident Management Seminar 2017 on September 29.

Ms Lau gave a speech on the well-established police command structure and strategic response system in the event of a major incident. Mr Cadman then talked about the Force's counter-terrorism strategy with reference to its approach of "Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery". Mr Yau followed up to explain the functions and protocol of the Disaster Victims Identification Unit with emphasis on the application of the latest technology. Also highlighted in the talk were the Force's comprehensive training programme and cross-sectoral collaboration, which are effective means for empowering the capability of police officers in tackling major incidents.

The seminar provided a good opportunity for fostering better trust, understanding and co-ordination among the Force, the HA and other emergency services teams, with their common aim to delivering a more efficient and effective response to major incidents.
