Assistant Commissioner Lam Hiu-tong and Superintendent Wong Wai-shun attended an Executive Leadership Programme as a Visiting Fellow (VF) and a participant respectively at the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) in Manly, Australia from September 3 to 15.

Ms Lam and five other VFs, namely a former Commissioner of the Dutch Caribbean Police Force, a training director from the United Kingdom College of Policing and three senior officers from the Australian law enforcement agencies, served as syndicate leaders in coaching and assessing the participants' performance in the programme.

Thirty-eight officers from police forces, fire departments and emergency rescue services in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong participated in the two-week residential programme as the third module in their distance-learning Graduate Diploma of Executive Leadership Programme run by the AIPM. Under the facilitation and assessment of VFs, the participants went through a range of thought-provoking activities, including Commissioners forum, visits to private enterprises, case analysis and workshops, to boost their executive leadership abilities.

Upon completion of the AIPM residential programme, Mr Wong spent a week on attachment to the New South Wales (NSW) Police Force. There he visited the Surrey Hill Police Station, Sydney Police Incident Command Centre, NSW State Emergency Coordination Centre, NSW Police Force Emergency Management Unit and the sites of major incidents and operations in Sydney.
