To strengthen frontline officers' capability in gathering evidence and giving evidence in court, the Learning Projects Division and the Detective Training Centre (DTC) of the Police College jointly produced a training package on "Court Proceedings and Giving Evidence in Court".

The package covered three types of skills in giving evidence, namely the skills in handling crime scene, taking statements and giving evidence in court. It was introduced to over 400 training officers in a seven-day workshop in August.

A retired Magistrate, Mr Wong Yu-wing, and the Honorary Legal Adviser of the Junior Police Officers Association, Mr Hau Cheuk-man, were invited to explain the significance of gathering case evidence and the attitude of officers in giving evidence in court. Superintendent of the DTC Yau Nai-keung and Assistant Commander (Crime) of Wong Tai Sin District Chau Hin-hung also shared their knowledge in collecting evidence and recording witnesses' statements and their court experience.

The relevant training videos can be found on the webpage of "What's New" of the Police Intranet. A full set of training materials can be downloaded from the Training Days Resource Bank of the intranet of the Police College.
