Chairman of Sha Tau Kok Rural Committee Mr Lee Koon-hung and some committee members presented commendation letters to officers of Sha Tau Kok Division (STKDIV) on October 10 for their dedication and professionalism in handling some cases under inclement weather. Commander of Border District (BORDIST) Yau Siu-kei and Deputy Commander Wong Tak-cheong attended the presentation event in recognition of the outstanding performance of the frontline colleagues.

On August 23, tropical cyclone Hato seriously hit Hong Kong, bringing heavy rain and extensive flooding to Sha Tau Kok. As two elderly homes in the area were flooded, dozens of elders were trapped and their safety was under threat. STKDIV officers responding to 999 call promptly evacuated the stranded elders and brought them to a temporary shelter, displaying bravery and professionalism in the face of the violent storm and raging torrents.

Then on August 29, a few inhabitants of Ha Wo Hang Tsuen in Sha Tau Kok discovered a 10-foot-long python. Several STKDIV officers assisted a snake catcher in capturing the huge python in the bushes without fear, alleviating the threat to the villagers.
