A member of the public, Mr Tung, together with his wife and two kids, presented a pennant to officers of the Rural Patrol Unit of Sai Kung Division (RPU SKDIV) and Marine North Division (MNDIV) on September 13 in recognition of their professional performance during a hiking rescue operation in Sai Kung. Commander of Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) James Betts, Deputy Commander Young Chi-man and SKDIV Commander Tsang Wa-hei led the officers to receive the commendation.

On May 20, Mr Tung brought his kids for hiking in Sai Kung. They started their journey at Hoi Ha but eventually lost their way and were trapped on the shore near Tai Tan by the evening tide. Upon receiving Mr Tung's report, officers of RPU SKDIV and MNDIV, together with officers from the Fire Services Department, conducted a search operation and swiftly rescued the family. Mr Tung was grateful to the police officers for comforting his young children with care and empathy as well as providing him with useful tips on hiking safety.
