Mong Kok District (MKDIST) collaborated with Mong Kok Kai Fong Association in organising Mong Kok Community Top Chef Competition 2017 on September 23. The event provided a platform for contestants to share their culinary experience and culture regardless of their nationalities or ages, with the theme of the dishes as fighting crime.

Twelve participating teams were divided into three groups, namely Inter-generational Category, Non-ethnic Chinese Category and Family Category. Their dishes were assessed by a judging panel, which comprised of MKDIST Commander Kerry Carew, Chairman of Yau Tsim Mong District Council Mr Ip Ngo-tung, Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee Ms Chan Heung-lin, Chairman of Mong Kok Kai Fong Association Mr Leung Wah-sing, and Honorary Presidents of MKDIST Senior Police Call and Junior Police Call.

With a view to fostering cultural exchange among different races, a Non-ethnic Chinese studying in a local university was invited to moderate the event. Through quiz games, the event also disseminated to the audience the messages of cyber security and prevention of deception, theft and violence. Amid joy and excitement, the audience from different ethnic background mingled well and had a pleasant afternoon.
