To enhance communication between Western District (WDIST) and local schools and to raise awareness of the school management of youth problems, Deputy Commander of WDIST Sin Chi-sing hosted a Sharing Session with Principals, Discipline Masters and Social Worker Network on October 9.

The event attracted 36 participants from 15 secondary schools in southwestern part of Hong Kong Island, the vice-chairperson of the Council of Central and Western District School Heads, the chairperson of Southern District Joint Schools Conference and representatives of non-governmental organisations.

Officers-in-charge of District Intelligence Section, Special Duty Squad and Anti-Triad Section of WDIST told the participants the latest findings on youth crime. A guest speaker, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Social Sciences of City University of Hong Kong Dr Fung Lai-chu, shared with the participants the subject of "Student Aggression and Handling Strategy" in order to explore the causes of youth violence, ways to handle campus disputes and school bullying, and the preventive measures.

The sharing had deepened the participants' understanding of youth issues and local crime trends. The collaboration of the Force, schools and welfare organisations would help to promote the healthy growth of youngsters in WDIST.
