Ten delegates of Marine Region participated in the first tailor-made Hong Kong Marine Police Counter Terrorism (CT) Emergency Response and Search and Rescue Capability Enhancement Training Course at the China Maritime Police Academy in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, from December 4 to 9, 2017, to enhance their resilience in handling maritime incidents. Led by Chief Inspector Tsang Chiu-hin, the delegation comprised Senior Inspector Tsang Shing-yin, two Station Sergeants and six Sergeants.

The vocational training focused on four thematic areas, namely maritime enforcement development of China, threat of terrorism and counter terrorism strategy at sea, search and rescue at sea and emergency response. Apart from group discussions and observation drills, the delegates visited the Maritime Security Administration in Ningbo to learn about their maritime traffic control and rescue co-ordination system.

The training enabled the delegates to gain an in-depth understanding of maritime enforcement agencies in the Mainland and enhance their ability in tackling terror incidents, emergencies and maritime search and rescue. Deputy Regional Commander of Marine Tsui Wai-hung attended the Graduation Ceremony to mark a new chapter in collaboration between Marine Region and the China Maritime Police Academy.
