Commissioner Lo Wai-chung visited the Small Boat Division (SBDIV) on January 15 and presented the Commissioner of Police's Unit Commendation to the officers there for their exemplary performance throughout the 20A Security Operation and related celebratory events.

In the lead up to the 20th anniversary (20A) of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, SBDIV officers were involved in maintaining seaward security for the visits of the heads of state of Indonesia, the Philippines and Pakistan. During the 20A celebrations, SBDIV officers worked tirelessly to help ensure that all maritime aspects of various operations ran safely and smoothly.

After being greeted by Regional Commander of Marine Patrick Hodson, Mr Lo took an inspection of the SBDIV base at the Government Dockyard and was briefed on the Unit's maritime emergency response capabilities and equipment.

Mr Lo presented the Commendation to SBDIV, with Senior Police Constable Mak Tak-ming representing the Unit to receive such a prestigious award prior to his pre-retirement leave.

Mr Lo met a cross section of frontline officers and took the opportunity to congratulate them on receiving the award and commend them on their devotion to duty and contribution. He also applauded SBDIV's distinguished history and encouraged those present to maintain the high levels of professionalism and fortitude for which the Unit is famous.
