The Hong Kong Police College's International Executive Development in Policing Programme (IEDPP), co-organised with the Canadian Police College, was accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications at Level 6 under the Qualifications Framework (QF) (the same level as Master Degree) in December 2017. This marked three records in the local history of qualifications accreditation: the Force becomes the first government department having acquired the accreditation for operating a training programme at QF Level 6, and the IEDPP becomes the first accredited online learning programme, and the first accredited programme run collaboratively by local and overseas government departments.

The Hong Kong Police College and the Canadian Police College started to co-organise the biennial IEDPP in 2012 for officers at executive level of the two places. Comprising both online and class sessions, the programme aims to promote strategic leadership knowledge, skills and competence of police executives. The trainees are required to complete a Strategic Change Project for applying their skills in handling practical issues.

As early as 2010, the Force became the first department to operate training programmes under QF. By the end of 2017, a total of 4 414 Junior Police Officers and 715 Inspectorate Officers have been awarded with the QF-accredited diploma or certificate. The latest accreditation reaffirmed the Hong Kong Police College as a leading centre of police training in the international arena.
