The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) collaborated with the INTERPOL to run a Cybercrime Investigation Training Programme in Fiji from November 6 to 10, 2017, and in Indonesia between December 4 and 8 for member jurisdictions of South Pacific and Southeast Asian regions respectively.

The programme aimed to offer cyber security support to INTERPOL members to cope with the ever-changing cyber threat, enhance the capability of cybercrime investigators and foster intelligence exchanges and collaboration among law enforcement agencies.

Senior Inspector Au Yeung Hau-ying and Sergeant Yeung Ka-tai offered training to attendees in the Fiji session while Inspector Lee Chi-yuen led Station Sergeant Law Kei-tat and Sergeant Lee Chi-hung to run the training programme in Indonesia. A total of 45 officers from Fiji, Nauru, Vanuatu, Tonga, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam attended the programmes with a view to sharing the knowledge acquired in the programme with their colleagues in their home jurisdictions.

In a globalised environment where different law enforcement agencies face similar challenges on cybercrime, the training programmes equipped the attendees with skills in handling cyber incidents. The contribution of the CSTCB in the programmes were highly appreciated.
