Deputy Commissioner (Operations) (DCP OPS) Lau Yip-shing visited Traffic Hong Kong Island (T HKI) on February 8 to get an update of the daily work and challenges faced by frontline officers.


After being greeted by Senior Superintendent (T HKI) Ng Lok-chun, Mr Lau was briefed by frontline officers of T HKI on how they employed different types of vehicles and accoutrements to reinforce traffic enforcement. He took the opportunity to learn more about T HKI's strategies and challenges in combating drink driving and speeding, as well as investigating traffic accidents.


Afterwards, Mr Lau met a group of frontline officers to listen to their work difficulties and challenges. Mr Lau encouraged them to continue developing their skills to strive for career development. He advised them to be patient and calm and apply the professional knowledge they have acquired to tackle difficulties at work. Mr Lau added that Body Worn Video Cameras would be dispatched to frontline officers by phases to enhance their work efficiency and the effectiveness of evidence collection. He also talked about the Government's initiatives of extending the service of civil servants, and how the Force would keep pace with demographic changes of society.


Mr Lau affirmed the professionalism of officers of T HKI. The visit drew the Senior Force Management closer to frontline staff and effectively boosted staff morale.
