Over 1 500 regular officers, auxiliary officers, civilian staff members and retired officers took part in the annual Dowman Road Race at Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung on February 24. Joining the Force members were more than 70 runners from other disciplined forces.

This year, the Police Athletics Club introduced a number of initiatives, including the provision of Chinese New Year festive number bibs for the runners, the addition of two new games - Family Run and Youth Engagement Cup, and the presentation of more trophies for auxiliary officers. All these initiatives were well received.

Commissioner Lo Wai-chung presented trophies to the winners. Police Constable (PC) Tsim Hoi-kin of the Police Tactical Unit Headquarters (PTU HQ) captured the championship in Men's open event while PC Ng Chui-wa of the Police College clinched the championship in Women's open event. PTU HQ was crowned The Fastest Team in Specialist/Training Units with a new record. All six members in the team completed the race within 46 minutes. Tai Po District emerged as The Fastest Team in Other Formations/Units whilst the Police College won the championship in Women's team.

Chairman of Police Athletics Club Mr Mak Chin-ho thanked all volunteers, including Physical Training Instructors from the Police College as well as volunteers from the Police Football Referee Club, the Auxiliary Medical Service and the Hong Kong Adventure Corps, for their assistance in the race.
