More than 100 mentally incapacitated persons (MIPs) and their family members visited JPC@Pat Heung on March 4 under the arrangements of the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit (FCSV) of the Crime Wing. Senior Superintendent (Crime Support) Ho Chun-tung welcomed the participants and expressed appreciation to officers from JPC@Pat Heung for their assistance.

The officers led the participants to take part in activities, such as floor curling, foot dart and an inflatable climbing wall. The participants had an opportunity to try on police uniform for photo taking and to try to collect evidence at simulated crime scenes. They also got hands-on experience in lifting fingerprints to learn about identification work. This was followed by a lunch, during which police volunteers interacted with the participants.

The MIPs came from the Hong Kong Joint Council of Parents of the Mentally Handicapped, the Parents' Association of Pre-School Handicapped Children, the Intellectually Disabled Education and Advocacy League and the Star Family. They and their family members said that it was a treasurable opportunity for them to increase their understanding of police work. FCSV will continue to organise liaison activities and sharing sessions about the Force's procedures in handling MIPs so as to foster mutual trust.
