A 69-year-old man, Mr Chung, thanked a Junior Police Call (JPC) member from the Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School, Mr Joshua Kwan, for reporting his emergency case to the Police and saving his life. Mr Chung sought the assistance of Kowloon City District to invite Mr Kwan to an appreciation event at Hung Hom Police Station on March 16. Mr Chung's daughter sent a thank-you letter to Mr Kwan. Mr Kwan's family and his principal, Dr Chan Wai-kai, also attended the appreciation event.


Mr Chung suffered a heart attack while walking pass the Baptist University in Kowloon City on January 28. He collapsed on the pavement, losing his breath and pulse. Mr Kwan, a 17-year-old JPC member of Yau Tsim District, happened to pass by the site and he called the Police at once. He also performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Mr Chung and helped him recover his breath. Mr Chung was admitted to hospital, and was discharged after receiving medical treatment.
